Addy Osmani from the Google Chrome team got in touch when they needed a new design for their Speedometer tool. The tool tests how fast a web app responds, given a pile of simulated user interactions like mouse movemenets, clicks, and keyboard input.
The team wanted a distinctive illustrated badge of a speedometer to use across the website and branding. Given my love of finely-rendered mechanical details, the project was a great fit.
I developed three different speedometeres for the team to pick from – each used subtle visual cues related to Chrome and JavaScript.
